Nevada Writers Hall of Fame

The Nevada Writers Hall of Fame was conceived by former Friends of the University Libraries President Marilyn Melton in 1988. She envisioned two purposes: an annual event honoring Nevada's finest writers, and a stimulus to encourage excellence among emerging writers in the Silver State.

How to Make a Gift

Supporters of the Libraries can make gifts in a variety of ways, including online, on the phone, or through the mail

Letter from the Dean

In this age of digital technology and instant information, the question often arises, “Do libraries have a role in the 21st century?” The answer is unequivocally “yes.” In the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center and DeLaMare Science & Engineering Libraries, we wholeheartedly embrace digital and information technologies as essential to our mission. But libraries are so much more.

They are dynamic learning spaces for students and faculty, places where tools and expert assistance are available to assist in the creation of new knowledge. These vibrant work spaces are at the heart of ideas, alive with a level of creativity that also reaches out to the larger community through programs, speakers and exhibits that excite, entertain and inform.

Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center

One of the signature buildings on campus, the Knowledge Center’s beautiful environs are perfect for individual or group study and conversation. Computer workstations, printing services and professional digital technology support are available for students and faculty. High-tech cameras and video editing equipment can be checked out, just like books and e-books.

DeLaMare Library thrives on interaction and innovation

Named one of the most interesting makerspaces in America by Make Magazine, DeLaMare has a strong reputation in the high-tech world. 3D printers, Google Glass and Liquid Galaxy are some of the cutting-edge tools that spark experimentation and collaboration among students, faculty and people throughout the region.

The Basque Library is the window for English speakers into the Basque world.

The Basque Library is the window for English speakers into the Basque world. It houses the most comprehensive collection of resources on Basque topics outside of the Basque country and supports the University’s Center for Basque Studies.

Sustaining libraries that flourish in an ever-changing world requires the collective commitment of engaged individuals. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you who value the University Libraries and the work being done on behalf of the next generation of leaders. Your gifts are vital to our continued efforts to serve.
