Working in the Libraries

What has been your favorite thing about working in the Libraries?: I’ve enjoyed learning about processing and preserving archival objects, and finding surprising items in collections.

Can you tell us about a favorite memory or job-related achievement from your time working here?: Completely processing my first collection was very exciting, and helped me realize that working in an archive is something I’d like to pursue in the future.

What’s next for you?: I’ll be spending a couple of months in France and then hopefully find a job in a museum or archive.

From Ian, Oliver’s supervisor: One of my favorite parts about working with Oliver is that he's always able to go with the flow, whether it’s retrieving material for patrons or encountering a really tricky part of a project. He's often calm and understanding when the rest of us are stressed! Oliver has been with us for almost two years, and in that time he's both completed nearly a dozen projects. In his time here he's helped process and describe dozens of boxes of material. He is consistently reliable, and produces quality work. He will always ask questions when needed.
