Working in the Libraries

What has been your favorite thing about working in the Libraries?: I enjoyed getting to know many of the library staff members. Because I delivered mail for most of my time here, I got used to the routine and seeing familiar faces around the building, which made the library feel like a second home.

Can you tell us about a favorite memory or job-related achievement from your time working here?: It's not so much a single memory as a collection of memories, but I enjoyed my time working at the library and the people I worked with. I came from a very hectic restaurant job before this, and the calm routine of the library helped me to settle into a headspace where I could write and complete my Master's thesis. So when I think back on this time later in life, I think I will consider the whole experience special.

What’s next for you?: I honestly have no idea. Right now, the plan is to enjoy having a Master's degree and then go from there.

From Veronica, John's supervisor: I wish I could have had John longer because he is one hard working dude. I've had to throw several last-minute requests his way and he always handles them without issue. We're really going to miss him!

John’s selected book from the Libraries’ collection:

When Titans Clashed: How the Red Army stopped Hitler by David M. Glantz and Jonathan M. House, published 1995
