Working in the Libraries

What has been your favorite thing about working in the Libraries?: I’ve been working in Special Collections and Archives for my time in the library and I’ve really enjoyed transcribing for the oral history projects.

Can you tell us about a favorite memory or job-related achievement from your time working here?: The department’s bingo. One of our archivists created a bingo sheet to help the department get through tough times. Every time something occurs a spot can be marked off and once we get a bingo the creator of the bingo will bring in a baked good for the department.

What’s next for you?: I’ll be returning UNR as a master’s study in Social work for the next three years.

From Ian, Emily's supervisor: Emily has worked in our department for several years. During that time, she's always been someone we can rely on to help with retrieve materials for patrons in a pinch and has always been very eager to help when asked. During a particularly busy week in which the reading room was swamped with undergraduate researchers, Emily was crucial in helping to both retrieve and return materials for a seemingly endless flow of undergraduates visiting at the last minute to finish an assignment. Emily was a lifeline throughout the entire process.

Emily’s selected book from the Libraries’ collection:

The University of Nevada, 1874-2024: 150 years of inspiring excellence
