Working in the Libraries
What has been your favorite thing about working in the Libraries?: Working every Saturday in the @One this school year has been so fun! It's a really loyal crowd of regulars and it's been great to get to know them.
Can you tell us about a favorite memory or job-related achievement from your time working here?: One weekend, a faculty member came in with his wife and I got to help them laminate photos of their grandkids and the grandkids' art. It was so nice to get to be a part of preserving family memories.
What’s next for you?: Hopefully working towards my clinical licensure and getting my LCSW in the next couple of years!
From Nicole, Mary's supervisor: Mary often jokes that she’s ‘the worst employee ever', but in reality, she has been always someone I can fully rely on. Having worked multiple roles in the Library, her experience, judgment, and advice are absolutely irreplaceable—and her playful banter has made working together so much fun.
There are so many good memories to choose from, but one that particularly stands out was during a staff party when I was calling out BINGO numbers. Mary was sitting in the front row, heckling me with a mischievous smile every time I called a card that she didn’t need. This quickly turned into a spontaneous back-and-forth between the two of us—but all in good fun. It not only made for a memorable game of BINGO, but was also the moment I realized the two of us were going to be very good friends.
Mary’s selected book from the Libraries’ collection:
Chaos comes calling: the battle against the far-right takeover of small-town America
