Working in the Libraries
What has been your favorite thing about working in the Libraries?: I have thoroughly enjoyed the archival process related to my job. It feels very fulfilling to help in the preservation process of the documents we handle.
Can you tell us about a favorite memory or job-related achievement from your time working here?: A special memory from my time working at the library would be when we finished digitizing the City of Reno project. The project was started prior to when I started my job in the digitization department and I was happy to be a part of it.
What’s next for you?: I hope to find a career in computer science after graduation and to hopefully go back to school for my Master's in Library Science to become a systems librarian.
From Katherine, Kaitlynn’s supervisor: Kat is a dedicated student who has worked on some large-scale digitization projects. She's scanned a variety of materials ranging from geological reports, photographic negatives, to hand-drawn maps! Kat contributed greatly to a major digitization project with the Great Basin Science Sample and Records Library, in which our department scanned over 100,000 pages of reports and maps on environmental and geologic resources. What an achievement!
