Working in the Libraries
What has been your favorite thing about working in the Libraries?: I love the environment of the library as well as helping other students solve their problems. It feels good when you can give someone information that helps them with their assignments or research.
Can you tell us about a favorite memory or job-related achievement from your time working here?: My favorite memories of working for the library are doing rounds of the floors. I liked to see all of the people studying, and cleaning up and organizing so that students have a good experience at the library. It also made me appreciate the layout and design of the library, after a while it felt like a second home to me.
What’s next for you?: I am looking for a job right now, but I would like sometime in the future to go to grad school.
From Maria, Alicia's supervisor: Alicia was a fantastic student employee at the Library Services Desk. When she took a semester abroad she was eager to return to DeLaMare. She truly loves working with us, values de team, and was determined to remain part of the DeLaMare family.
After the semester abroad, the Library Services roster was full, except for the Map Assistant position, a role she wasn't initially very familiar with. Despite that, Alicia took on the challenge and quickly became a valuable asset to the department. She worked a variety of projects, developed extensive knowledge of the map archive, and consistently delivered high-quality work with impressive speed and accuracy. She has truly excelled in this role.
