Working in the Libraries

What has been your favorite part of working in the Libraries?: The relationships I've built with my coworkers and supervisors, as well as the ability to build my schedule around my classes.

Can you give us one (or more) example of an achievement or special memory from your time working for us?: I really love that I've been able to gain so many skills that I will be able to bring with me into further job opportunities.

Additionally, there was a time when there was something seriously wrong with my car, and my supervisor at the time helped me figure out what was wrong with my car and told me how to fix it by myself.

What is next for you? Short-term or long-term plans: Working on local campaigns and possibly pursuing a job with the Washoe County Library system.

Supervisor Responses from Erin Wells:

What has been your favorite part of working with Fiona?: Fiona is eager to work and help where she's needed. She learns diligently, and if there is anything unusual or inconsistent about a project, she knows to ask questions. With a job that requires adaptability considering the many unique circumstances, Fiona knows it is better to ask than to assume. She is also easy to connect with and accepts everyone. As someone who is honest with who they are, she facilitates a safe working environment that welcomes difference and change.

What is one job-related achievement or memory of Fiona?: Fiona contributed extensively to the RGJ Index Card Transcription project and proactively created a comprehensive guide to the abbreviations used in the project, helping ensure our metadata is consistent, accurate and user‑friendly.
