Making access seamless and efficient

Our team acquires and describes materials in varied formats to provide optimal access for library users, both on campus and remotely. The team also maintains the library website and discovery tools on the website. As a team, we:

  • Manage licenses and subscriptions for close to 2 million online journals, ebooks, and streaming videos.
  • Catalog and describe tens of thousands of print books and digital objects annually so library users can find and access those library resources.
  • Oversee a multimillion-dollar materials budget that supports academic research and instruction.
  • Manage content and design of the library website to help users find the resources and services they need from the Libraries.

Budget, E-Resource, and Discovery Services

Part of Collections and Discovery, the Budget, E-Resource, and Discovery Services (BERDS) department facilitates the purchase and licensing of online resources, manages the Libraries’ materials budget, and maintains and troubleshoots access to online resources. We also manage content and design of the library website, as well as Library Search, our local version of the Primo VE discovery tool.

 

Metadata, Cataloging, and One-Time Acquisitions

The Metadata, Cataloging, and One-Time Acquisitions Department (MCOTA) handles the cataloging, metadata, and one-time acquisition needs of the University of Nevada, Reno Libraries as well as select partners.
