Sometimes you need a peaceful place to work or decompress. The Libraries have a variety of spaces and resources at our locations that can help you. They include designated quiet floors and spaces, specialized study rooms, sensory processing tools, and computer carrels.
Quiet(er) spaces
Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center (MIKC)

MIKC 103: Lactation/Quiet Room
Sound level: Quiet.
Lighting options: Full artificial lighting, overhead turns on automatically.
Seating: One large pleather recliner.
Study carrels? No.
Amenities/notes: A mini fridge and microwave are available. For access, please see the information kiosk in the MIKC breezeway.

MIKC 300: Chase Tower Reading Room
Sound level: Restricted noise levels.

MIKC fifth floor: quiet study floor

Seating: Solid wood chairs, rolling computer chairs at desks and computers. Few pleather cushioned chairs.

MIKC 500: Pillsbury Tower Graduate Study

PME 104H: Wellness Room

Lighting options: Choice of artificial lighting or dimmable natural light from windows overlooking the university practice fields and mountain range.
Seating: Zero-gravity reclining chair, relaxing sofa, and computer chair.
Study carrels? No.
Amenities/notes: Private, single-person space designed for relaxation and focus. Features include a zero-gravity chair, napping sofa, white noise machine, air purifier, a variety of fidget and relaxation tools, a wellness book collection, and a private workstation.

PME 104 Back: Hush Study Pods
Sound level: Noise-dampening design with soundproofing that reduces ambient noise by up to 30 dB.
Lighting options: Full control of lighting with adjustable brightness and color, plus four presets: Relax, Focus, Video Call/Conference, and Optimal.
Seating: Cushioned stools available at both seated and counter heights.
Study carrels? No.
Amenities/notes: Located in the quiet study area at the back of the library, these individual HushFree.S Study Pods provide a semi-private, soundproofed study space. Each pod allows users to adjust both ventilation and lighting to create a personalized study environment.

PME 104 Back: Quiet Study Area
Sound level: Low/restricted noise; occasional muffled sounds from the front of the library or nearby group study rooms.
Lighting options: Full artificial lighting.
Seating: Individual wooden study carrels with fabric chairs, laptop risers, and electrical outlets; plus four half-walled privacy cubbies featuring large pleather stationary recliners, side tables, and a rolling whiteboard.
Study carrels? Yes.
Amenities/notes: Spacious, tucked-away area located at the back of the library behind the freestanding book stacks. Designed for individual, quiet study.
