About the University Libraries

The University Libraries embraces intellectual inquiry and innovation, nurtures the production of new knowledge, and fosters excellence in learning, teaching and research.

The Libraries welcomed 750,000 visitors across its network of four libraries: the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center, the DeLaMare Science and Engineering Library, Jon Bilbao Basque Library, and Special Collections and University Archives. Information from the Savitt Medical Library is included in the University Libraries’ statistical reporting to the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL). Savitt is an independent library that reports to the School of Medicine.

Visitors checked out more than 58,936 items and completed more than 2.7 million database searches. The Libraries enhanced teaching, learning, and discovery by providing approximately 12,971 individual help sessions in person and remotely across all departments; giving 550 in-person or online presentations to 12,222 people; managing 843,429 digital objects; welcoming 6.1 million users across its digital platforms which had more than 10.4 million pageviews; providing access to 1.4 million e-books and 347,359 streaming videos, 387 research databases, and much more.

Jon Bilbao Basque Library (Renoko Euskal Liburutegia)

The Jon Bilbao Basque Library (Renoko Euskal Liburutegia) is a research library for researchers interested in Basque Culture and the Basque Diaspora, a memory institution for the Basque Community throughout North America, and a comprehensive portal to access Basque studies in English for researchers and institutions.

Special Collections and University Archives (SCUA)

Special Collections and University Archives (SCUA) stewards unique, rare, and historically significant resources in a variety of formats primarily documenting the Northwestern Great Basin and the University of Nevada, Reno. SCUA builds and maintains collections that support research, teaching, and learning for the campus community and the public at large.
