The University Libraries, in partnership with the Washoe County Libraries is offering a virtual exploration of a Special Collections and University Archives collection entitled "A Thousand Miles of Desert and Mountains." The series, aimed at 4th through 7th graders but appropriate for all ages, explores a series of three diaries written by two prospectors as they traveled across Nevada in search of the next big bonanza.
This collaborative project brings together materials from the Museum of Natural History and the 3D imaging expertise of DeLaMare Library. The collection includes a variety of specimens that have been selected from the Museum's collections and scanned by a joint team from both institutions.
This website compiles a variety of resources related to the bombing of Gernika in 1937. Its main component is a history of the bombing and its antecedents by Dr. Xabier Irujo. Additional resources include a digital exhibit and downloadable materials.
The website is a collaborative effort of the William A. Douglass Center for Basque Studies, the Digital Services of the University Libraries, and the Jon Bilbao Basque Library of the University of Nevada, Reno.
This collection contains the papers, notebooks, and photographs of James Edward Church, who was a professor of Classics at the University of Nevada, Reno, and the man known as the "father of snow science" because of the snow sampler and snow surveying methods he developed. The digitization project draws from expertise throughout the Libraries and involves a close collaboration with the Church family.
January 1st not only marked the beginning of a new year, it also marked the moment that thousands of creative works published in 1926 entered the public domain. Among the works entering the public domain this year are pieces by Hemingway, D.H. Lawrence, Faulkner, Agatha Christie and A.A. Milne, author of the much beloved book, Winnie-the-Pooh.
Preserved as part of a "public-public" partnership between the Washoe Washoe County Recorder and the Libraries, this collection includes a variety of official records, including land transactions, homestead claims, land surveys, liens, cemetery plots, court judgments, and women’s property.
