Citing a website in APA style

When citing websites in APA style, your citation should follow one of the basic formats below.

Webpage with an individual author

As is common in APA format, write the title of the webpage in “sentence case.” In other words, capitalize only the first letter, any proper nouns, and the first letter of a subtitle (after a colon or question mark). Place the webpage title in italics.

Webpage with a group author

When the author and site name are the same, you can omit the site name from the citation. In the example below, both the group author and the site name are the CDC, so the citation does not repeat the website name after the title.

Webpage with no date

If a publication date cannot be located, use “n.d.” to indicate “no date”.
