Open access tools

Extend your research beyond our collections

OA Browser Extensions

Two free browser extensions that can help you find open access articles without a library subscription are Lean Library Open and Unpaywall. These tools work best in searches beyond the University Libraries' own collection and are great as a supplement to the already available paid and open access articles provided by LibKey Nomad.

Publishing

The Libraries now has publishing agreements with Cambridge University Press and The Royal Society of Chemistry to help faculty publish research at no cost in Open Access journals. Please contact Teresa Schultz for more information.

Databases

We have curated a selection of over 60 open access databases on the A-Z List. Discover even more OA articles using Library Search and LIbKey Nomad.

Government information

We are a selective federal depository providing free access to certain federal government documents to the general public. See our Government Information guide for more on finding and using government information resources. The Libraries also has selected Nevada state documents and international government resources.
